  1. This ones now "reduced" to £675k which is still taking the pi$$ but a move in the right direction at least. Interesting also to note that a mate of mine has put his place on the market and says he's "testing the water" He is someone who doesn;t want to stay where he is for much longer so has finally realised that the sooner he sells, the better.
  2. BTP - What a quality avatar Gavin Henson is one lucky fella, if a little stupid.
  3. Oi! My uncle lives there! Come to think of it, I think thats him throwing the Molotov Cocktail
  4. Pembrokeshire prices pi$$ me off. I moved away from there 6 years ago when you couldn't give houses away (as Tuplip said). House prices were higher where I moved to but it was still easy to buy. I've watched things go the other way now. Prices higher in Pembs than where I currently live. It's bound to fall. Other than second home/BTL (which is drying up), there is nothing in the way of industry to support the prices. Check this place out! Saundersfoot harbour residence Madness!!! £750k for a bungalow overlooking the harbour!!!!!!!! This is Wales - not Monaco
  5. Interesting stuff Gruff, it doesn't suprise me at all. I'm back there every 6 weeks or so and there are masses of sale signs around. Where you based?
  6. We've done OK. I bought in 2001, Wife bought 2-bed house in 2000 (before we met). Sold my 2 bed flat in Jan 2004 and we sold Wife's place in June this year. Now renting. I don't put myself in the STR bracket though as our position is more cicumstantial than planned. We are not completely settled in the area where we are living so wanted to bide our time rather than wading in with another purchase straight away. Yes, it would be great if prices went down but we are still looking and if the right place for us came up in the right area, we will go for it. I can't spend my life waiting................
  7. I used to work at Neyland Marina. It's not too bad down there. Burton is also nice. Good luck with it.
  8. Somewhere nr the Milford Haven Waterway would suit you by the sounds of it. You could look at property in Pembroke Dock, Milford or Neyland as they are the cheapest areas to buy (but not the most desirable suprisingly). Forget places like Tenby or Saundersfoot, (my old stomping ground) as the prices here are way high and propped up by the London set. You could be really cheeky like me and throw in a derisory offer Pembs shares so much in common with Devon/Cornwall - high prices with really crap wages. I feel sorry for the locals who have to compete. I had to get my ass out of Wales but want to return. Trouble is, sort of work I do doesn't really happen in Pembrokeshire
  9. ............I didn't say how much the offer was below the asking price though. It's been rejected. It's a good house for me in a good location and no, it's not my dream house at all. It would be a good home for several years while I modernised it. IMO Pembs will fall quite hard when things level out. The "investors" have slowed their buying in the county and the locals are either trading up or staying put. I doubt if FTB's could afford anything.
  10. Don't live there but grew up there and keeping extremely close eye on the market as looking to head back there in not too distant future. Where you looking? It's grown massively over last few years but things are very stagnant down there at present. Every time I go back (every 6 weeks or so) same old places still for sale. The decent ones are still sellling though. I actually put an offer in on a place this last week.
  11. Damn you. You've pulled me out of the woodwork at last. I've only been lurking for about a year now......... As it's my birthday today, I thought i'd sign up Hello all. Love the forum - I've learned a heck of a lot here from many people. Still may buy property though - personal circumstances and all that.
