Official figures show 15.1% fall in house prices
The average price of a house in England and Wales fell by 0.8% during January and by 15.1% in the year to the end of the month, according to the latest figures from the Land Registry. The official figures show the average house price now stands at £156,753, down almost £28,000 on January 2008's figure.

Somebody should tell the estate agents where I live, they are still marketing new properties at silly prices.

Where I live (South Manchester) they are still marketing new build flats “From £159k”, on a main road, near two noisy student pubs. Unsurprisingly, not a drop of activity. Makes you wonder why they didn’t just down tools and suffer early losses. No doubt waiting for this magic “recovery”…
