cock-eyed octopus
Probably OT, but I found the programme interesting, although completely flawed. I would have liked some more facts & figures, more in-depth analysis to go with the X-factor type stuff, although the latter did give it an immediacy that old black & white photos cannot do. I found it surprising to what extent the protagonists rapidly took on board the real meaning of debt, & their response was touching when they realised what their forebears had to go through simply to survive. Absentee landlords. Everyone renting. Squalor everywhere - genuine this time - parts of it made a decent fist of how it must have been. There've been a few of these sort of programmes already, but this seemed to tacitly pose the big question: how on earth did we get from there to here? There's a germ of a good idea in this one, I'll be interested to see how it develops.
blobloblob
I reckon I'd be just like the older bloke who did one day's work then couldn't get out of bed the next day.
