  1. Hi MT dunno about Thornhill - I'm looking at Gwaelod-y-Garth
  2. Cardiff (north). 3 houses in our street - 3 or 4 bed detached - (on the market from at various prices 200k - 280k) have sat there since summer. In the last 3 weeks all 3 have just sprouted 'under offer' signs. they all have same EA (whose owner coincidentally lives in the village). If I was cynical I would think that the signs had been changed to generate a false mood - but I don't think that's the case this time as the 3 propertys in question are no longer on Rightmove or the ea's own website so they are effectively no longer being advertised. Now further to the north in Pontypridd (large valleys town) I called in one EA for a chat(girl was sat there looking bored - I felt sorry for her) Asked how was business - she said rubbish - nothing selling, prices too high - all sellers need to reduce by 10%. I can't quite reconcile the two anecdotes.
  3. Must be me then - when I do a search it just times out. Other websites are fine
  4. I've been trying to do searches on rightmove all weekend but it doesn't work - is it just me or has it ground to halt 'cos of all the new properties being uploaded onto it.
  5. very good http://www.altolusso.co.uk/html/home.htm
  6. Altolusso is the new curvy place going up in the city centre - must be hundreds of flats in there - there are certainly dozens of ads for them in the Wessie.
  7. Buyers seem to be re-emerging down here in Cardiff. Seen 2 cars trawling up and down the street with house schedules. There are about 7 houses for sale in our street - been on sale since at least October with 1 on since May We put an offer in on one 3 bed detached (we are currently renting) - buyer wanted 225k we offered 190k (and though that was over the odds - we walked away when our offer was rejected. Anyway the house we offered on has just sold (stc??) - neighborhood gossip has it that vendor got 2 offers at the asking price!!! Another house gone STC a few streets away too last week - been on the market since July/August. Hope it's just a dead cat bounce
  8. OOps wrong forum - I've now posted this to the "in my area" forum

  10. For what it's worth - never put boiling water on your windscreen if it's frozen - there's a good chance the thermal shock will crack the glass. Happy New Year to you and yours....
  11. Just heard from a freind inside Northern Rock that they have extended income multiples on FIXED RATE MORTGAGES as follows; Gross income;£10000 - £17500 = 4.8 x single income £17501 - £25000 = 5.0 X £25001 - £32500 = 5.3 X £32501 - £100000 = 5.6 X £100000+ = 5.9 X hmm......I just entered a salary of 30k on their website and was offered 3.7X
  12. if prices rise 100% then they only need to fall 50% to be back where they started!!
  13. hello mochynhapus - was that an EA in Wales or elsewhere...hwyl
  14. Hi I've been lurking here for a while and I though I'd toss in my twopennorth about CARDIFF. I'm renting at the moment and looking at nicer suburbs on the north side eg radyr/Pentyrch Small modern 4beds typically 250k, with 3 beds 220k - they've been at these prices since april. I put in an offer of 190K 2mths ago for a 3bed detached which was priced at 225k - offer was rejected - property is still on the market at 220k. If I was to offer again It would be 175K and I wouldn't go higher than 180k. I reckon prices about 25-30% too high here but I would be tempted to go for the 'right' property given falls of 15-20%. Properties are sticking here no doubt - but apart from an odd few properties there are no significant falls yet only token almost pointless discounts like the 5k off a 185k property I spotted yesterday. Cheers.
