  1. Daily Mail Main splash on their webpage at the moment. Has a quote from the CML mentioning subprime as being on of the drivers.
  2. Worth a read for those interested in where increases in m3 might be taking us, this section seems quite pertinent. Telegraph
  3. Flood Map This is a good resource, type in your town/postcode and see if you are at risk from flooding
  4. Times Online Pay cuts all round then. Doesn't apply to MPs of course.
  5. Daily Mail Now why might he want to get the election out of the way so quickly?
  6. Graph from above link. Looks like it might be time for the base rate to play catch up.
  7. As a footnote to this story heres another from todays telegraph. Bank rates 'certain' to rise next month I find it interesting the way the consensus for the peak in IR is creeping up, seemingly month by month. This time last year 4.75% was as high as they would be allowed and now 6% is grudgingly accepted as what will happen.
  8. USA Today This is a US story but still relevant for the UK. Here are a couple of quotes I found interesting, plenty more relevant info in the story. Good job food and energy aren't part of the important Core Inflation figures. And a bit of spin at the end. So the citizens of the richest country in the world have to cut back on their grocery budget, not for health reasons but to save on food costs.
  9. Only if you believe the doublespeak. How 8,000,000 people "dropped out of labour market"
  10. Couldn't see these posted anywhere. Debt alert over rising cost of mortgages Credit card firms forced to write off record debt
