Doesn't Capitalism also demand, conservatism, efficiency, making the best use of resources and protecting the environment? The intervention you mention is a corrective measure that applies to any system -- but some systems may be more difficult to correct because of the volatility they embody. By being so efficient (short-term) and promoting/delivering so many desirable things (to current generations), Capitalism might be more prone to running out of road before anybody bothers/is able to grab the steering wheel.
