  1. But you dont get the free car unless you lend to someone.. Thats where you make your money (or cars in this example) If you dont ensure you get them back you dont make very much! Yes they know full well they can make a profit. They are in a win win situation! Lets put it another way! If money is a constant then how come national/personal debt keeps rising? Where does the money come from?
  2. Erm give me a car for free and I will lend it to someone. If they dont give it back you can be damn sure I would go after it! How come the banks write off so much debt and sell debts off to debt collection agencies? If they had to supply all that cash how can they afford to just let it go?
  3. I agree it is pointless. If you cant accept that the banks dont have to have the money to lend and therefore they create it out of thin air and that money goes into the economy and creates inflation then you just dont want to know! Deposits dont matter to the banks like you seem to think it does!
  4. Yes I do believe they can... When you apply for a loan do you think the bank actually considers their reserves before lending?! The bank does not need to have $400 in deposits!!! I know its hard to comprehend but banks make money out of debt!
  5. Are you stupid? If you lend someone xx amount of cash and they go to the cash machine and take the money out and spend it then it is money. If they then go and buy a car from someone else and they then deposit that money into a bank account they will have REAL MONEY SAVINGS! I think you must be trying to get people to argue with you because you talking cr*p
  6. So you are saying that this WIKI entry is wrong? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractional-re...ore_than_it_has Reserves are a special form of money which can be held by the bank either in its vaults or on deposit at the central bank. They are generally described as a "high-powered" form of money and are needed to perform fractional reserve banking. When a bank is in possession of bank reserves this means that it is able to lend to others more in customer receipts than it has on deposit. If we imagine a bank which has $100 in reserves, with a 20% reserve ratio the bank would be able to lend up to $400 without breaching the ratio.

  8. It is indeed true and why things look a little scary to the sheeple when they suddenly realise that their money does not sit in a vault ready for them to go pick it up.
  9. HI ST I can remember that info too. It was to run overnight tonight starting at 10pm if I remember rightly.. Thats not the same the current availability issues because like I have already said you can log into it via the applet. If the system was down you wouldnt be able to log in!
  10. Earlier today if you went directly to the NR applett to sign in it let u in..if you went to the home page it blocked you.. That was nothing to do with overloaded servers.
  11. Oh we got a frog geek! Get your goth outfit on and u are one of us... (Either that or thick rimmed glasses and curly hair)
  12. This is funny sh*t.. People are learning out facts that have been available for them to find out at any time for the pasts 60-70 years and now they finding out they are getting in a panic..... This could be the start of a revolution in banking methods!
  13. Hop off froggy.. The only pad you should be worried about starts with lilly
  14. Perhaps you need to be a bit more vocal in your feelings.. I can tell you are bottling it all up inside
  15. I would be stunned if Mysql would be used Perhaps the world class geek would be able to give us some clarity on this... Thats if he can get away from his phpBB where is uses mySQL and thinks its the nuts..
  16. Agree with you 100% Its a wonder these idiots have jobs when they have no idea what the hell they are talking about 1/2 the time!
  17. If it was a problem with sever capability then the following link https://ww6.northernrock.com/servlet/CSplashServlet would not open the Java Applett and allow you to log in. There is nothing wrong with their systems and they are not over loaded.. The website is being throttled pure and simple and that is a very naughty thing to do!
  18. Judging by the speed the site can determine that it cant help you I think it must have atleast 2x DX's
  19. That is proof if proof is needed that they are blocking it! Click on the site to access savings accounts you get error message.. Go straight to the login splash on above link and u get in straight away! This needs to be passed out to as many people as possible!
  20. He was the only one in the world that went to his.. "special" class...
  21. Thank christ!! Someone with a brain!! Just been on NR website and they have opened up the savings side now. It behaves completely differently than before and further proves that during the past 24hrs they actually closed the savings side with the excuse that the servers couldnt handle the demands! I guess they realised that they couldnt continue with that plan because it was making people very very annoyed!
  22. Cheers GOM that kinda backs up my whole point. I dont think that they are open for business but demand has caused the system to freeze. I think that they have limited customers from logging in which in my book just plain wrong. What makes it even more wrong is that mortgage customers can login without a care in the world! To the poster who asked if I was talking about DNS sub domains I was talking about them because the poster I was replying to used Ebays DNS subdomains as an example of how they work....
  23. Unless they are going to start giving branches away to those wishing to withdrawl I think it means liquid assets!
  24. I think you are the perfect example of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing! You used the term "buffer underrun" completely out of context and now trying to use the term subdomain as a reason why two areas of NR systems would not share a secure server! It would be basic common sense that the secure servers (yes there would be more than one) would load balance to ensure that depending on the demands of the website each customer would be able to log in. The only thing that NR might have done is placed a limit on users who can log into the system at anyone time.. This means that if number of users logged in is greater than x amount show x page (the too busy page).. This is not the same as the system not being able to handle to amount of users but the system adminstrators rationing its use (this could be a sensible method because the system for those who do get logged in will run at a quicker than a snails pace) I suggest you read a little more about sub domains before you comment any further because you clearly have little understanding of what they are and how they work.. Perhaps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name#Other-level_domains might help you!
  25. Barclays did it so that their books balanced overnight... this happens more than a lot of people think. NR are doing it longer term just so they can operate!
