[Previous Crashes/dips]

just wondering if anyone out there has any recollections, knowledge or information regarding previous HPCs... there's a lot of chat about the most recent one (which I only vaguely recall, being a teenager at the time) but the historical analysis clearly reveals something of an ongoing cycle at work. I don't recall any observations being made about previous downturns, presumably cuz you're all so young... but I for one would be very interested to learn from anyone out there who had an eye on these things 30 years ago...

bit at the end about the ancient Greeks understanding of human progress through time... we are looking backwards as we move forwards... we can see the past (with increased perspective the further we are from it) but the future cannot be seen

this runs contrary to contemporary thinking on "facing the future" and seems particularly apposite with regard to house prices...
