  1. It was originally built as a shopping centre. It would be a bit like Union Square if turned back into commercial BP took it over for an office I think Dyce big enough if they did it and moved all the shops off the high street
  2. https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/encouraging-signs-for-aberdeen-property-market-but-house-prices-still-falling/
  3. House prices are ridiculous after furlough and bailouts.. House prices have gone up £400k now for a semi decent semi which still needs a full refurb - Madness Where is the money coming from??
  4. Does anyone like the new ASPC? It is terrible i feel.. takes a lot of getting used to compared to the old layout.
  5. Kingswells house - surrounded by 3 sides by commercial buildings.. the field next to it is phase 4 so another commercial building. Landlocked on other side by farmer so no access. has hundreds of protected trees.. im not if they did this because they wouldnt sell or develop.. so this is why this was left.. every view is of an office building.. you do get some land but al restricted in what you can do. Also water flows at front.. you can see in phase 1, they built like a small loch for the water.. i think the water feeds into the Don..whatever the water way that runs through Dyce is called
  6. whats aberdeen housing market going to be like once the government lifts ban on real estate transactions?
  7. EME be very careful to stay there as your employer would have done a CEST SDS (Status determination statement) and determined inside. If HMRC gets hold of that and your limited company have self declared outside, it will be a blood bath for you - 20 year look back and taxes potentially.
  8. BP makes more money through its financial trading than it does through oil price. They have like 1800 traders employed so this volatility is good for them even if they dont say so. Oceaneering down from a high $83 to a low of $2... ouch ouch ouch Yes i would hold off until Corona passes to see whats left of housing market and Aberdeen This could be a big blow. More mergers and acquisitions coming though
  9. im thinking will go even lower EME This was before even the quarantines were put in place so now if a full global shutdown in place oil will drop through the floor. We just got to time the bottom right Whats your thoughts? lower still or hit the bottom?
  10. These ones EME? ROYAL DUTCH SHELL PLC A SHARES (RDSA) EUR0.07 My BP shares down 53% - crying now.. £20k lost so far
  11. Market: So does anything think its a good time to Buy oil? any good share tips or we think will get worse with Corona virus and market slowdown and to hold further? New build parking spaces I totally agree on zero parking space - westhill and countesswells new builds - 1 parking space for 4 bed houses that typically have 3 or 4 cars..All now parked on the street so down to 1 way traffic most of the times.. They should have to build a minimum of 2 parking spaces for a 2 bed property upwards
  12. Had a drive through Countesswells today! How many new houses going in and more importantly..who is buying them all! I havent seen the population of Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire increasing but we have been pumping out thousands of houses and flats over the past few years.
  13. Holy moley - thats crazy - surely they should get them off as quickly as possible before it turns into another cruise ship nightmare breeding ground.. Yes going to be a lot of sick pay claims through out every industry it seems
  14. Its not nit-picking..I like the AWPR - It was designed for cheapest implementation full well knowing these issues would appear..like on day 1 it opened... There is still room for improvement but i doubt council will ever fund now given budget constraints You have to agree it is bloody confusing as hell to drive though even as experienced residents of Aberdeen and utterly shocking signs Who would build a T-junction onto a roundabout with no slip road? It is the same as Haudigan - slip roads off the round-about would have solved the issues many decades ago ..
  15. AWPR to get traffic lights now - you couldnt make it up if you tried the levels on incompetency involved here Why didnt they just build simple slip roads rather than T-junctions onto Roundabouts? would have been a fraction of the costs now to implement a half baked solution. The sign posting on AWPR is a complete joke too.. been in Aberdeen 40 years and even i have no idea what they mean
  16. Reg - if a carbon capture app can generate £580k of funding, i dont see why not. Seems to be plenty of slush money kicking around Westminster upgrade, Holyrood, AWPR, HS2 - lets get the bridge to Ireland built at the same time haha
  17. lets see how it plays out Maffo then as you seem to be an expert. Im telling you from the ground whats happening Pretty much as far as i know in Aberdeen it is now nearly impossible to get an outside IR35 contract. That is really going to shake up the masses of high earners in Aberdeen Offshore companies have been told by HMRC that anyone working offshore cannot be outside IR35 for example due to control and supervision of work. I already know of umpteen resources that have jacked in their contract roles and going abroad, This legislation will be a brain drain for UK, entrepreneurship and productivity. I can see more offshoring to India of tech jobs and visas for the UK. It is really not helping the economy in wake of Brexit and now Coronavirus..
  18. IR35 is going to kill remaining industry Big changes being blanket forced through. Corona Virus going to cause another smash on oil industry Like you say - dwindling profits and higher debts forcing everyone out of UK
  19. This is Aberdeen now!! https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/court/i-could-have-died-in-my-daughters-arms-dad-tells-court-trauma-after-brutal-attack-in-aberdeen-city-centre/ Spared jail - complete joke!!!! https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/more-than-80-of-people-receiving-universal-credit-aberdeen-in-rent-arrears/ £6m rent owed from 12,000 https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/news/local/aberdeen-budget-2020-live-councillors-approve-administration-budget/ Budget looks grim - Will tax shops to closing, noone will park in town, council tax up until people cant afford to live..
  20. The whole of Aberdeen is a cesspool now Dangerous dogs with junkie owners Beggars and drunks walking through the grotty Union Street Another dog attack in Hazelhead at weekend. I really wish the Government would get a pair and start to crack down on crime hard. Did you all see the clip of the kids abusing the police and setting fire to the police car laughing (not aberdeen) The country is really going down the toilets funded by the hardworking tax payers! Looking down Union Street today, I see a number more restaurants have closed and more "To Let" signs Business rates are really killing the high street and leaving lots of companies dead in its wake
  21. That flats on union street..!! Are they serious. Lent them £1m plus purchase costs on top and looking for 9 x 1bed and 2 bed apartments. Are they even going to clear costs after they sell 9? 1 bed flats you can pick up for £50k now.. Are they hoping the 2 beds will go higher than £100k?
  22. Do you have to pay taxes on Airbnb or anything? Are you running as a business like limited company?
  23. The crash is only going to get worse.. The only people who will say it is the bottom are people who are hoping to gain Look at the properties on the market.. B&Bs.. now selling up as hotel glut and room prices in freefall New builds - must literally be hundreds of new builds both in construction and planned.. Dyce, Chapelton, Aberdeen city, opposite the new AEC TEKA, Inverurie, big town planned for where old AEC was... All commercial buildings now selling as the tax is a burden Remember IR35 changes coming into play in April will have a huge hit on Aberdeen.. the money just wont be there.. No idea how many single man limited companies running but they wont be after April.. This will have huge hits on free cash and filter down Still in the acquisition and merger stage of oil Oil being phased out now quite aggressively and most people pulling out of north sea I cant see anything looking good for aberdeen just now.. correct me if i am wrong. Just read the evening express to see what life in aberdeen is really like now - drug busts and murders..you would never have seen that even a few years ago The decline in living standards is real and easily seen just by taking a stroll down Union Street
