Hey all, just looking for some friendly advice.
Due to unforseen circumstances I may be cancelling my contract that doesn't expire till October, I have only just renewed the lease last month for another 6 months not knowing this might happen. I have spoken with the agent who informed me "if" the LL was to go by the book and "dig their heels in" they could ask for ALL remainding payments - in other words buy out the contract (currently 2.5k). Or if feeling a little more lenient, the LL could accept that I just pay 'their' agency fee so they're not out of pocket in re-letting the property - I've been told this would be approx £400.
The LL is away on hols this week so I won't find out what the consequences are till next week, however I was wondering, if I get away with just paying the agency fee could I ask them to take this out of the deposit I paid initially or will I lose this as well? Also, if the LL does let me go how many months will I have to give?
Am I likely to get away with paying just the fee or am I to expect the worst? In the worse case scenario I'll have to stay in the property till the contract ends and leave then, with no other fees to pay and my deposit back.
Thanks for any info.
