If GB calls an Election this year or next year he will win. Remember JM won an Election after a HPC and with a recession, why, because the electorate did not like Kinnock. Unless the Tories get rid of their six form schoolboy leader they have no chance of winning an Election.
However in 1992, JM didnt have to contend with a really severe law and order problem, and general p£ssed off unhappiness in the country. People are thoroughly miserable at this point. I think the country looks in a way worse position than it did in 1992 and Cameron is not in the league of Kinnock yet, christ that really was an awful man.

I was saying this last week, he'd be mad to do it now.
Brown to me is starting to look like Hitler in the bunker in the last days of the Third Reich, surrounded by yes men while, the brits, americans and russian began battering down the walls of berlin on all fronts.
A sperfect storm on all fronts will be quite something to watch.

Its already happening here in Turkeys resorts, all the UK buyers have deserted, no one is buying and many are selling as they need the money back.
The last 3 years here in Bodrum they were buying like mad, outrageous prices for Turkey and then suddenly, this year it dried up quicker than an old nun sucking a lemon.
So I can verify that things are very tight, the season here among hoteliers, bars and restaurants are that people are not spending money, and many people i've spoke too who have come on holiday said they are so short of money, none to spare. Its going to get a lot worse.

wouldnt be surprised if unlike most diseases, created in a lab and then suddenly after a bit, one company spectacularly announces treatments.
Would not trust pharmaceuticals as far as i could throw them.
-
I dont think so, with a storm brewing on a number of fronts, such as the economy and law and order in the last few days, i dont think Browns in any position to pull an election off.
-
and of course as soon as i open my gob it flies back up to 0.4% down, lol.

This whole thing is weird but nice to see the FTSE steadily declining again, down 0.7% at the moment. Its been negative all morning, might be a whiff of something in the air!
-
They seem to lack the simple premise that the housing wealth will vanish overnight, if theres no bloody money out there to buy property with.
A massive debt like this means the country is owned lock stock and barrel.
They will only realise when they wake up one morning and find out their housing equity is not there anymore and then it will be "oh poor us". Where has my money gone.
I for one am waiting on it. The Credit Generation is going to get a rude awakening.

My personal pick for title would be
Simply Red - Moneys too tight to mention.
-
Thats what telling you there is a huge problem, this swing would not be happening if they were not certain there were huge problems on the horizon and the Fed would not be doing what it did, if it didnt think the sh%t was about to hit the fan.
-
It looks like their boss has gone to Spearmint Rhino and dragged them out
Edit: FTSE back below 6000.
God I used to work next to that on Tottenham court road, we used to call it, the Peppermint Hippo. It was wide boy city on Fri afternoon, hence the drop on the market again, regardless of the state of the market, these twonts would be there 3.30 Fri afternoon.

With any luck, investors will not buy this bullsh£t carrot dangling rate cut from the FED and give them what for!
-
christ its really going up and down, dropped 1% over 5 mins to 2.39% gain
looks like the rally may be over! oh how the hell would i know, lol

If I had any money in Northern Rock I would run and move it out of there as quickly as I can.
I think the phrase is "bye bye countrywide"
If the DOW hears of this when it opens, it will be.
-
well, i knew this would happen, after all, you mention the B word and people freak.

It's just like a big game of poker, however the sellers are just realising they don't hold all the aces any more (big blind). And by the sounds of it we have been subject to the bluff for a period of at least 6 months, when will the flop occur.
It really is places like Foxtons, i used them for about a week until i realised they had over valued the property by £50,000 and I was not happy. They really are a shower of bas$ards.
-
quite right, the mood has been dark amongst the population for quite some time. Miserable ba^tards and rightly so, when you have a govt that simply would fail to notice trouble, act on it or quite simply could not organize an orgy in a whorehouse.
-
At the very least you can be sure he has a CSE in Maths, worry not!
Christ we could probably run the country better than this bunch of clampets.

Just out of interest, what are Mr Darling's qualifications to run one of the largest economies in the world..?
Just what we need a sodding solicitor running the economy
-
I had the impression seeing it, that Alistair was thinking, F U Gordo for dropping me in this, wish i'd never taken this sodding job, what was i thinking.
-
I think Gordo must've left Alistair his little book of Spinning as a parting gift. I particularly liked the way he more or less implied that the Sub-Prime meltdown was a US issue in a niche part of the mortgage market!
Its a lesson on how to look daft. They will look so dumb shortly. AS I said the govt is doing the old looking over the castle walls, saying they can see nothing when the enemy is crossing the moat.
-
and back up to zero loss again, theres real volitilaty, no ones got a clue what to do

On a serious note, i just rang up my best pal to tell him about the SMC because he is about to buy a house. He is a FTB buying a £170,000 2 bed bungalow in Rayleigh, Essex. I rang him but before i could speak was waffling on about how good the place was and how happy he was blah blah blah!! I didnt end up telling him, because he obviously didnt want to hear it!!
What would you do if it was your best mate??? I have told him before to hold up but i was laughed off really!!!
To make matters worse it is an 95% IO mortgage at 5.3%, i asked the dealer and he said they were called "stonebridge Mortgage company" or something like that!!
Seems like sub-prime is still going for it!
Opinions and advice please
Go round and slap him silly til he sees sense, however if he can't see sense with whats happening currently, unfortunately he never will.

I know, Gordon Brown keeps turning the oven down!
seems to be on a permanent steady drop now down 0.5% now

Quite frankly nobody knows what will happen, as they say "a week is a long time in politics" and things could turn very nasty for Mr Brown if he called an election and then some major nasty stuff came tumbling down between announcing and voting.
Never underestimate the fickleness of the british voting public. They would hang you as quick as vote for you.
I can't see Brown taking that chance now, he'll wait out.
