Yes, the rent receipts, if you can call them that, they are just one of those little books you can buy from WH Smiths. I have tried looking through my local council’s website for a landlord register but cannot find one, but trust me, she wouldn’t be on it anyway. We now currently have an ant infestation in the kitchen (it was really bad last year), the floorboards in the kitchen have overturned due to a bodge job and cheap flooring so you have to be careful where you walk, anytime someone has a shower the ceiling from the kitchen leaks badly and her solution? To put a plastic wheely bin under the ceiling to catch the water. Now you kind of know what I’m up against. I wil try calling that number today to report her. I also found out about HMO and that you now need to have a licence. Can I report her to the local council?

No she is definitely not Muslim. For the person who gave the info about reporting online - that info is only for reporting employers/self-employed, but there is a telephone number so thank you anyway. Does anyone know how far this process will go or how long it will take for them to act on any info? Will we have to provide our rent receipts as evidence etc?

Hi, Me and my boyfriend live in a shared house with 3 other people. Our landlady is a nightmare and we would like to see something happen to her as she has made our lives hell from day one. We live in London which is expensive in itself and we rent a room in a house along with one 1 other woman and an old couple as we cannot afford to rent via the “proper” channels at the moment. Our landlady has several other properties that she currently rents (6 if I remember correctly) and it is fairly obvious that she does not let this fact known to the Inland Revenue as when we all pay our rent she always wants it in cash and none of us have a tenancy agreement. She never carries out any repairs, the house is literally falling apart (water leaking from bathroom into the kitchen via ceiling, gardens etc not being maintained so we have to go through a jungle before we can reach the front door etc) and the only day you will ever see her is rent day where quite literally she takes her money and runs never to be seen or heard from until the next month. I think it is totally unfair that we have to live like this and would like to report her to some kind of authority but I don’t know where to begin. If I called the IR could I do it anonymously? Also, we only know her name and the area in which she lives in, no street address, would this be sufficient evidence for them to go on? Also, if this has been going on for years, how far is this likely to go with the IR? Thank you for any help you can give me.
