I thought we were discussing Airbnbs in general, not just limiting the thread to Wales and Cornwall.

just using them as an example

the discontent seems to be in touristy areas, not generally where the migrants are

    Airbnb should be illegal, actually

As someone who works closely with Airbnb I am so here for this anti-Airbnb renaissance. Please do not rent Airbnbs they are a terrible company and I hate my job.

Back when AirBnB started it was like natural hosts renting out their cute homes and being like, "There's craft beer for you in the fridge!" and now it's someone's 80th rental property with plastic Ikea furniture and it's also out of soap.

People also need to realise most people who have an Airbnb don't have a hospitality or service background. They are rich folk with spare properties who are cashing in. They are used to be served and looked after not the other way around.

seems like a lot of you are having really bad airbnb experiences. i'll let you in on a little secret: hotels are incredible. clean towels on demand. your bed made for you daily. no messaging back and forth with a guy who keeps vaguely threatening you and assigning you chores.

Let’s not forget AirBnB’s are part of the problem with the housing crisis. Rich people buying homes that could go to families and instead putting them on AirBnB for absolutely ridiculous rates to profit. Hotels all the way.

The end of the specific company or the concept in general? The former's a possibility if the service is going down the drain but I can't see the concept vanishing any time soon.

    no the concept

people are fed up of being bossed around and are missing the service in hotels

plus lots of people are waking up to the problem of house shortages in touristy area

  5. but have you read the comments, people are getting fed up of the increasingly poor quality of service

they are complaining of being given curfews, chores to do and being watched by cameras (WTF)

I have only used Airbnb once and was not impressed since I was banned from using the bath for no discernible reason

We have a tenant currently not paying rent, and it’s going to take months to remove them - by the time we get a court order, they’ll be 8 months in arrears. Money we will never see.

    How is that fair?

You lot paint landlords with the same brush, when tenants are as much to blame. There needs to be reforms and a fair and fast regulatory body to protect both sides.

Now because of the system we have currently, and us good landlords being hammered with being unable to remove nightmare tenants, we will only be renting to a minimum of 2 parties on the contract both in full time employment with a perfect credit record. If they don’t pay, that gives us more protection and the threat of ruining their credit for the next 6 years with a CCJ.

you are not the victim no matter how much you try and spin it

if the tenant is witholding rent there is probably a reason

and being evicted does not give you a CCJ
