Foreigners should not be able to buy property on our land.

It was under Blair that all those inane property programmes started, with the horrid Kirsty and Phil, extorting young people suddenly became cool. That probably drove the explosion.

I did tell him if it gets worse we can discuss me buying the house. Of course the longer this goes on the lower an offer I will give him.
Wish I was in that situation. Pretty sure my landlords own my flat outright. I couldn't afford to buy either 😕

They only have until 1 June to continue to give just 2 months notice for old tenancies, then it's 6 months for all tenancies. Possibly a BTL exodus in Wales in Spring?

Quite satisfying reading the whining comments.

No way. They are still allowed No Fault evictions they just have to wait a bit longer before they can get them.

Ha, links to stories posted on this forum. I read one the other day about some bloke who couldn't get his non-paying tenant out, and even the court ruled in her favour. It was costing him a fortune each month, and he was frantic about how he was going to lose his own house over it.
Probably the court didn't rule in her favour, he just didn't have the correct paperwork, the court's won't be disrespected.

it's funny when they try and sell to another landlord, if they don't want to be a landlord anymore what makes them think someone else would
'sold with tenants in situ' LOLZ

This is precisely the reason why (IMO) people should refuse to use AirBNB and the like.
Complete disregard to neighbours, neighbourhoods, communities, local bylaws etc.
As ever it's pure unadulterated greed, from the AirBNB parasite scumlord right through to that peice of sh!t CEO Brian Chesky.
As long as they are lining their own pockets they could not give a fudge about anyone else.
When did people become so selfish?
Not only do the AirBNB parasite sumlords richly deserve bad karma, those using the companies services also deserve it.
I garantee if an AirBNB customer later found out that a nearby property to their actual house was an AirBnb they would soon change their tune about this parasitic company

We would have been happy to help with this when we served our S21, but the tenants became immediately nasty, obstructive & adversarial.
The S21 was issued with nearly 7 months notice, so don't start..
nasty? you were trying to make them homeless, you are the nasty one

landlords should have to pay tenants' moving costs

Homeowners?
where I am it appears to be a lot of ex-BTL

I’ve long argued that tenants should know the overall financial rating of their landlords. If you’re looking at two identical properties and one is a highly leveraged and/or foreign landlord vs a tax paying landlord who owns outright, shouldn’t some transparency come into play here, for fairness sake?
YES

here she is, looking like a clown, being interviewed by Mr. Evil himself
both of them peddling that old 'it's other landlords who are bad not us' line

this is from 16/06 apparently

How does that work?
actually oops I think it's Mandatory Registration for Landlords rather than licensing, it's agents who need a licence
if they don't do it they get fined...and they can't issue Section 21s

can't come soon enough!19-06-2022, 11:59 AMSome of us have worked and saved hard for it. I have tenants who could easily own their own home but choose to spend all their spare money instead of saving it. They're choice of course but you only get to spend it once.

My research has led me to believe there is a rush to the exit happening in Wales from landlords because of the new regulations. Renting Homes Wales Act 2016 says the EPC must be C or above. The ones who might accept the new 6-month possession-seeking notice seem to be giving up because of the EPC issue. It seems the 'age of the landlord' is over as agents here are advertising obvious ex-BTL properties as 'suitable for first-time buyers', these same properties a few years ago would have been marketed **IDEAL INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY!!**.
Only a few are being marketed with tenants in situ. I am seeing reductions that are encouraging. If they're all trying to sell this year prices will have to nosedive.
