  1. Just went past one of the local EAs in London and there was a family looking in the window saying "look at that, one bedroom 250k thats just insane" presume they were already owners of something bought when prices were less "insane". Friends of mine have had their place on the market for over a year now at 1.2m, a couple of offers 100k below but refuse to drop their price as others similar appear to still be shifting at full asking. Can only assume that their are very, very few buyers out there and they are very picky.

  2. Meaningless. A metal rule will expand and contract a whole lot more than that from the heat of holding it in your hand. Let alone the difference between a hot and a cold day.

1977 was the last time we were seriously bust, with an economy built on inefficient, lame duck industries.

Bit like banks today only difference being that the old lame duck industries produced something useful

  3. I just took a look at the article and made a pdf copy (see attached). The pdf file name as it came off the website was:

"UK economy is being destabilised by high house prices and mortgage debt'_ EC issues warning in annual report _ Mail Online.pdf" So they overlooked that one in the hasty cover-up.

And it looks like they forgot to remove the photo section with the "for sale" signs from the original article.

Conclusive proof me thinks that someone at the wail has a lot to loose from a property crash. Well done to the soon to be ex employee who posted it originally.

File was too large to attach so here is the abridged version (hopefully).
