The fact that people are asking questions like this shows just how serious the issue is. People are losing faith in banks (I honestly think this is a good thing). If this sentiment permeates into the rest of society we might have some major upsets.
This perfectly sums up how I've been thinking recently - to think that the situation is so bad that I actually spend time every day wondering if my Bank is going to go tits up.
That in itself proves to me that this is gonna be worse than 1990 - and I remember that all to well.

I think we have a concensus. I think I'll CHAPS it into my Lloyds account on Monday & stick it in their Term Deposit account - I won't be needing it for some considerable time.

For all intents and purposes it came across that all banks where underwritten but he didn't mean it.
This really affects me. I foresaw (like many of us) the impending HPI crash & sold my house in December in order to rent a flat. I now have the £250k proceeds in a B&B account and right now I'm applying to all the best buy savings accounts with the intention of sharing the cash out around them in £35k wedges if I get scared.
I would welcome your advice/comments on whether this is necessary/desirable/crucial given B&B's current ... what word to use ... predicament

S'what I was thinking too so I decided last night to instead open an eSaver account with NR & transfer the bulk to that. They both pay 6%.
Better safe than sorry really ...
