  1. So, out of the examples of manufacturing what seems like a more solid stable base for an economy

    Selling a few luxury items

Or selling a lot of everyday items

I know what i'd bet on

This program has more spin than a cue ball hit to screw back

  2. Having a tantrum does not = taking control, IMHO.

In this situation it got the job done.

I liken the response on here to armchair footballers who would have remained calm and put the ball in the back of the net in that world cup semi against Germany rather than the pro who screwed it up despite doing it the other 99 times out of 100 during the season

I tend to accept the fact that there are some situations I will remain calm and assertive in and others in which I will be rattled

Like I say the guy had someone serious balls to wade in there and get the camera crew out despite the fact it was obviously pretty difficult for him. If anyone thinks that's easy, like I say they're just full of sh1t

  3. Still could have got things done in the same amount of time. Why do you respect him because he chose to be rude? I would imagine incidents like this have occured before but because it was dealt with in a civilised way it does not make the news.

I respect Doctors/surgeons/nurses. I have faced many difficult situations in my life and will face many more. I just choose and prefer a different way in getting my point across. I think that being calm and pointing out what people are doing wrong is much more effective than shouting them down. You can still be assertive.

I don't respect him for "being rude" I respect him for taking control of a situation where the PM and deputy PM were involved. You seem to be missing the point that this was not an ordinary situation, and most people would have backed out of it instead of putting the patients safety first. The fact that you're citing yourself as a perfect example of someone who deals with all situations in an equally calm and assertive manner means your full of sh1t.

  4. Probably not, but there are plenty who have died because of doctor arrogance.

I agree with him not wanting this entourage on the ward, but I do hope he's got a significantly better manner with his patients...

And I would hazard a guess that more people have died from doctor incompetence. Rather have someone in my corner that gets stuff done than someone who puts pleasantries first. :)

  5. Tongue in cheek wealthy... We do that on here occasionally. You are the type that looks for an argument in everything. The Doc was rude. He did not have to be.

If in your world that is the way to communicate with people then you just run along and enjoy yourself.

Yes obviously it's tongue in cheek, I've no doubt you'd run away with your little tail between your legs if you found yourself in any form of difficult situation

Funny though, you're going on about how they weren't doing anything serious, well, I wonder who ever died as a result of someone being rude to them. Only some uber sensitive type.

  6. I have visited hospitals many times. I don`t wear ties unless up before the judge or burying someone. I was unaware of the tie rule. I always disinfect my hands. If he came flying at me all guns blazing in an aggresive manner then he would have been lucky he was in the right place to have one of his mates remove his head from his ar5e.

Forget political favourites and even if it was Brown or Obama I just don`t understand why people choose to be rude instantly. Fair enough if they were told and decided to ignore the rules then give em both barrels.

Right so now you've just revealed if someone is rude to you you'll be violent to them. And yet you're banging on about how people should live up to your standards and deal with adverse situations in a calm manner

  7. Simple really, walk up to them and ask them to please stop filming. Explain who you are politely and tell them that the actions of the camera crew/press represent a significant health risk to patients under your care. Tell them what they need to do before they can continue filming and thank them for abiding by clinical hospital policy.

    No not simple

If you think it's simple you've never found yourself in a difficult situation, let alone one that involves the safety of others

  8. He still sounded like a Dick. You could see his staff cringing with embarrassment. He could have been forceful with a bit of style. Instead, he made a tw@t of himself. Silly little tantrum. I still take me hat off to surgeons though.

Who gives a toss how he sounded

    Job done

Vast majority of the population would have hid in the corner and said nothing, including everyone on here

Stop crictising the guy: I'm not having it :D

  9. He reminded me a bit of spoilt b@stard out of viz.

It was pretty unprofessional going off on one like that in the ward in front of the patients.

So what would you have done written a letter to your MP?

I'm glad we're all living in the real world, I'm sure handling an NHS ward isn't stressful, and I'm sure having to deal with a camera crew in front of the PM and Deputy PM isn't a particularly difficult situation that all the geniuses here would handle perfectly, inbetween posting on a forum.

  10. This means that neighbours, street, alleys, grass verges, etc are all really important to get right.

As someone else said neighbours can change, so what we are really talking about here is finding the most expensive neighborhood you can afford so that no chavs get to move in.

Sums up why property prices are so high here.

  11. Go round like a sniffer dog to see if there is any smell of damp especially in fitted wardrobes and in the attic. Also make sure you pull the plug to check the water goes away no problem in the loo. Ask direct questions and take a note of the answers. Then you have a case if the vendor lies about the axe murderer next door.

take an athsmatic with you, any issues with damp will soon be spotted

  12. No we need as many people as possible to create jobs, dreams and hope with an effective system of checks and balances to make sure the most reckless don't get far in terms of over borrowing.

No, we don't need "as many people as possible". Resources are finite, we don't want to use them to create a load of useless shite. N.b. I get your point here but failed businesses are pretty costly to the economy. Isn't this the same as lending to someone with no deposit?

  13. I agree. But we are humans who make mistakes and have emotions. Loves hopes and dreams. Life, business, marriages, sibling rivalry none of it is fair.

As for responsible people ( not you) they generally bore the pants off me, we need more irresponsible people to create jobs, dreams and hope.

I think you will find in a chaotic world responsible people who died at 40 and are looking forward to being buried at 80 with their carefully planned no risk strategy are in for a shock.

Having said all that I totally agree, but grossly unfair is not what I would call it - just life in all it's rich and vibrant hues

No, we need responsible people to create jobs, dreams and hope, by taking calcuated risks

  14. I would say the thread should be titled - reality check for people who thought they were middle class but now discover they are not.

I would also like to suggest a definition of middle class which would be those who can afford to privately educate their kids including paying for a degree

And who can also afford private health care.

Anyone who cannot meet both these criteria is definitely not middle class IMO.
