  1. So its a similar story back home then! Just can't see what would possess anyone to spend that sort of money on what, at the end of the day, is basically still a flat. (Yep, my user name is a bit of a giveaway as to where I originally come from. Another year of misery for city no doubt. Plus for me, the humiliation of a Carling Cup exit against the MK Dons to look forward to. Such fun is life).
  2. Was going to post this in the Comedy Properties thread, but to be honest that wouldn't be fair. I am sure this is very nice and it is certainly in a good area, but over half a million for a 2 bed flat in MK that's not even in the city (sorry, town) centre.... http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-875...=1&tr_t=buy If I had that much money to spend I would rather go for this http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-179...=3&tr_t=buy
  3. Good explanation. The same applies with average wages (perhaps more so). The top end is so distorted that the mean becomes fairly useless. So for now, I shall compare my salary against the median for MK. Makes me feel not so bad about things. I still think the ONS stats for wages are a bit high when comparing to what's advertised out there. Mind you, I think they include everything on the P60 which if I am correct, also includes pension contributions and other benefits.
  4. Been lurking for ages. This is my first post so go easy. Just noticed something really odd when looking at average house prices for 'all types' in Milton Keynes. Two sources based on Land Registry, plus the Land Registry itself and there is a difference of over £20K? BBC - quotes £197K for Q1 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/in_d...ml/county57.stm UpMyStreet - quotes £203K for Q1 2008 http://www.upmystreet.com/property-prices/...ton+keynes.html Land Registry - averaging out at £176K for Jan 2008 onwards http://www1.landregistry.gov.uk/houseprice...amp;image2.y=14 My only explanation is that MK has lots of Shared Ownership which are included in Land Registry data and stripped out of the calculations in the other two. If not, then something looks a bit odd. Or am I just being paranoid?
