There is a problematic trend of people moving from the south east to cheaper areas like Oldham, creating more competition for homes and jobs in the area, and that Oldham needs to build high value square footage homes rather than just social housing, to bring in much needed revenue. Does he mean Oldham council? How much does private companies building houses bring in revenue for the area? Perhaps if all jobs are locally sourced? local suppliers used, ...but the end result is going to be expensive houses bought with debt? Hotel Future, the national hospitality training centre and conference centre, is progressing, with a target start date of Spring 2014. This will bring in a whole new market sector to Oldham, the conference market. Disneyland Paris has agreed to operate staff training from the site, meaning expected upturn for nearby, cheaper hotels, providing accommodation for staff in training.
