  1. BTW I completely disagree with you. You do not teach the kids anything. 95% of them learn and teach themselves and each other! They do NOT need you!!

You could just give most kids a reading list and tell them to f.off and come back in 9 months for the exams and most would achieve similar results.

This is the most ignorant statement I have read in a long time.

I hope you realise that most of the students come at level of monkeys after their secondary schools. We have to teach them everything. It is really painful to take somebody from the level of being almost-idot to the level of being useful-for-the-society.

  2. Boycotting research would hurt academics' careers (especially if they were then blacklisted by research councils because they did not deliver the outputs of grant-funded research in time) but not the standing of institutions, because all institutions would be hit by the problem equally, thereby neutralising any comparison.

One cannot boycot research because this is what we do. It would be like boycotting eating or drinking.

  3. :lol::lol::lol:

    Oh hilarious!

Total sh1t of course, but so veeeery funny!!

I teach at University of Liv. and I have never met a Liverpool secondary school graduate during Open days.

The only area with acceptable schools in the region is Wirral (plus Blue Coat and one Anglican School). All the other secondary schools in Merseyside are plain rubbish.

  4. Still high here in Tunisia where a nice apartment is 300,000 dinars or 150,000 quid + in Tunis

If prices are falling there they mustfall here as only french Tunisians could pay the prices with Euro loans!

Problem with Tunisians they have a die hard price defending tight **** approach where they would rather go under than reduce.

it really effected every place in the world it seems

Who would buy in Tunisia??? Colder than Spain over the winter, hotter than almost everywhere during the Summer. Far away, expensive flights.

For an all inclusive once-in-a-lifetime experience might be OK...

  5. Just interested to know how much people spend (or would spend) on their cars.

One reason I ask is every time I park up somewhere I get car envy, but I know 1) how much these people have spent on their cars and 2) statistically I probably earn twice as much as them and have no mortgage.

Still can't bring myself to fork out £15k on a decent second hand car though (plus my wife would ask me why I can't pay for her not to work then!)

So how much would you spend on a car? 1/2 salary 1x salary more? Also any examples of people who can't afford to eat but drive a Range Rover would amuse

I bought a 2001 Citroen Picasso for £1600 in March 2007 and it is still running perfectly (I only paid about £100 for repairs) and

a 1999 Toyota Avensis Estate for £650 in September 2008 and it is also running excellent.

I hope they both last for another 3-4 years.

  6. The Blanca did not have the scale of rises as the CDS. I had a house in the Blanca and there were always deals to be done. Oversupply an issue but in the northern area Altea, Denia, Moraira it is better. Deals are around there at the moment and the good deals arfe more available (just look at Ebay!) I agree we need two more years and even then house prices will have zero growth in capital value for 4/5 years. The Blanca rentals are much lower by the way than CDS about 30% less but with a good purchase in the right area you should get 5% even today. I would advise you to rent first as some areas are very dodgy after nightfall!

Southern Costa Blanca has 2 bedroom apts. for 50K Euros. I guess with negotiations one can get to 40K and in 6 months from now they will be available for 30K.

The only question is whether it is worth buying at any price there.

Altea, Denia, Moraira are better indeed.

  7. This website is for sales between sellers. ie. No EA's or fees. Quite popular way to buy/sell in France. Have a look at this site , it's also in English, and it will give you a good idea of what's available. Don't forget that the prices are the ASKING price and should always be negotiated down. Especially in a falling market ;)

How much negotiation do they usually accept on PAP?

  8. i hope so i coming back to london from belgium next year.....my euros at 1 = 1 will do very nicely...

its a very strange game us getting the euro by the back door,,,did they plan it or by luck.......... or the hand of the N.W.O ?

For you will do very nicely, for millions others living in UK will do very badly. But why would you care about the others?

  9. The guy was outed as being a mortgage broker – he had a vested interest in keeping the plates spinning. He did go slightly deluded towards the end of his days on this forum which was fairly amusing.

People spent hours and hours trying to explain to him that all his oppinios were childish, stupid and irrational.

    But he would not listen.

He was paid by Saidia's developers to hook some uninformed buyers...

  10. Grumpy, permapessimists are ALWAYS certain a slump is just around the next bend, always.

I went to buy my first B2L in 1997 and a PP convinced me for a while that the end was neigh

This is the core point I come back to time and time again, the pessimists / optimist argument is THE most important matter this site can address.

PPs seem unable to grasp reality, for example, they fail to account for the fact property was still pretty resilient even during the mass turmoil that was the 1970s  .

A great last word from a monumental IDIOT!

Or maybe the last bark before being slaugtered.

  11. Having read this forum it makes me laugh, i have purchased property in Bulgaria in Bansko and near Bourgas. I don't think that its as bad as you all make out. I have purchased some good development in Basnko called Summit Lodge and Sunset Resort on the coast.

The idiots usually laugh when confronted with bad news.

BUt you are an agent so maybe you are not a fool afterall...

  12. Hi

I have purchased in Coral Sea Pearl in Hurghada, a studio at £19,800 which i think will be a superb investment and i also purchased in Paradise Gardens Resort, Sahl Hasheesh for me. I got a 2 bed apartment in Sahl Hasheesh for only £67,500 from International Dreams and they also gave me a cash back deal. Worth contacting them if you are interested in any of these areas .

    Cheers

You can buy in Hurgada studios for 10K in resorts similar to Coral Sea. 198000 was a rip-off.

  13. Hi

I am looking at two developments out there one Sol Do Atlantico in Natal, Beach front & also looking at Palma Do Mar, Paraiba. Both look good investments.

Sol Do Atlantico looks amazing, as it is beach front and fully furnished for only 99,000 Euros for a two bed, anyone purchased there ? Pictures of Sol do Atlantico attached

Do you know that the Brazilian Real lost 50% in the last month?

99K Euros for 2 bedrooms in Brazil???????

  14. It seems to get worse in UK by the day and to think that it was only a short time ago that everyone in UK thought we had the strongest economy in EU!!

Only idiots could said that UK has the strongest economy!!!!

In what concerns Spain, it is like like an ostrich with head in the sand, surrounded by hungry wolves who are licking their lips.

They will devour the poor creature in no time.

  15. treat the capital growth over the next 5/10 years [ yes values will recover as they did after the 70's crash which was worse than today!] ...as a bonus then there is a lot of fun to be had from a home in Spain....full/part time or just as a holiday home

How do you know how the current crash is? The price cuts in Spain have not even started.

Somebody who paid 30K for a house in 1997 has an evaluation of 180K as of today. That evaluation needs to go to at most 90K in order to make any sense buying that apartment.

I guess lifestyle can wait till 2010 when prices will be better than today.

  16. We were recently involved with a project on Laser eye surgery. I was amazed to find out that 120,000 people a year have laser eye surgery.

If you go on to the internet you'll find forums set up for people having or who have had surgery and it is full of horror stories. We found a number of media articles highlighting complications (in fact 49) all drawing on the personal experiences of people who had been injured during surgery. Positive comments and positive articles on laser surgery were very rare. The forums often contained more negative than positive experiences.

The reality after exhaustive research showed that around 98.9% of people having laser eye surgery had vastly improved eyesight after 6 months. Those 1000 people with complications every year were quite rightly vocal whilst 119,000 success stories were never covered.

Spain is much the same. 1500 useless people buy into dodgy development, happens to be Spain but could be anywhere. Personally I think they deserve it for thinking they were clever getting a golf apartment for half the price of those right by the coast. Well guess what dichead you get what you pay for.

These aren't average punters these are just stupid punters. I think we'll see the back of these sort very soon and normal service will resume.

Shame on you for insulting the name Einstein!!!!

  17. Seriously, i'm sick of this child loving government and their ridiculous policies which encourage everyone to have kids outside of marriage with no thought as to whether they can afford to do so etc.... This island is already getting crowded, why make it worse?

Listen, it is nobody's fault that you have to masturbate instead of doing it with a female and maybe have kids.

You will never have kids by spanking the monkey.
