AC44 Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 So we can see now who is driving the low interest rates policy. Really says it all about the independence of the BoE.. Ed Miliband brought up growth, David Cameron countered with low interest rates. http://blogs.ft.com/westminster/2012/05/pmqs-camerons-cruddas-attack-plays-into-labour-hands/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ft%2Fwestminster+%28Westminster+Blog%29#axzz1v159VN84 Quote
57percent Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Not news. Gordon Brown once claimed he'd done brilliant things by making the bank of england independent and co-ordinating the global cut in interest rates (in almost the same sentence). Neither he, nor all the journalists in the room, saw anything wrong with that. Quote

I did actually listen to the original and it didn't strike me at the time that the PM was indicating that he was driving the low interest rates. Might have to listen again, tbh it just seemed the normal pointless banter about phones and who saw the French PM. It's like listening to a bunch of children in the playground. You'd have thought in this day and age we could progress beyond this level of playground politics and actually get things done. I feel old having typed that, and had to check, yes I am younger than the PM... Quote
