Nothing to see here

Index of Private Housing Rental Prices, UK: November 2019

Another check in to see if the much promised retaliation for Section 24, tenant fees ban, etc is materialising. No reply from ARLA about why the figures are wrong or if the are right, when the now pent up price increases are going to burst through.

  • Interesting that London rents are lagging the rest of the country. Mortgage interest and tenant fees are highest here so surely it should be the other way round if the BTL lobby is right about the economics of rents?

Great post. I wish the series went back further. I am kind of surprised as well its so low. No wonder BoE prints away.

  • @2 thanks. Rents are only as high as tenants can afford in the end, and people are quite strapped! Interesting that there’s been a backlash against Amazon et al opening new offices. Not only do people barf when they see that tax incentives that are on offer, nut real questions are raised about how such a dramatic increase in average earnings will push up rents.
