London property market cooling as asking prices are slashed

LondonÂ’s property market appears to be cooling down with research revealing that up to 40pc of houses for sale in some areas of the capital have had to cut their asking prices since coming to market

  • There had to be a correction for the high end after the disastrous increase in stamp duty for it. Meanwhile, the low end had stamp duty cuts. We shall see if the 3% surcharge causes the market to languish for a few years, but folk keep flooding into Britain, and this could result in a serious construction short-fall and rents could soar if less supply comes online.

    Also, if, as looks likely, we get BREXIT, there will be a stampede as folk flood in during the 2yr negotiation period, to get grandfathered in.
