Your own 10 acre island for £450K?

Mail online: Its almost the perfect holiday home

With its own shingle beaches and inlets, several outbuildings, a paddock, extensive woodland, overgrown tennis court, coarse fishing, space for yacht mooring and a host of wildlife. All within 5 minutes walk of the town centre. Why would anyone want to pay a zillion squids for a high rise flat in London?

@doff, I think the answer is that a high rise flat in London gives you access to highly paid jobs and a lot more amenities than living on an island. It's a pity that your landlord or whoever sells your house is the one who gets to trouser the value of these without actually providing anything themselves apart from the amortised build cost and maintenance which is a fraction of the rent or selling price in London

I think the daily mash article below has the answer. Nobody wants to live in the London flats, they are just for investment.
