I agree. We pay £900 a month mortgage on a house that would rent out for £1400. I have no idea how families pay such high rents. Furthermore, how they save a deposit renting a house in London. Such a trap.

As said many times before, this is in part a factor of allowing estate agents to rent out properties. They manipulate sales towards buy to let, manipulating sales prices down for their buddies. In exchange the buy to let investor lets through the Agencies lettings wing. The vendor is defrauded, buy to own are disenfranchised and the Agency gets ongoing rental income from the sale.

BAN Letting Agencies from letting any home their Estate Agency wing sold in the last two years.

Better still SEPARATE letting and estates agencies in the same way that retail and investment banking is proposed separated to help fuel competition in the market place between buy to let and buy to live investors.

"BAN Letting Agencies from letting any home their Estate Agency wing sold in the last two years." wont work as they will switch property to another agent they own under a fake name, so many do that in cheshire
