These deals are just out of this world, and with predictions of inflation to go sub-1% even before oil prices crashed, expect these incredible rates to soon look expensive. Prices will soar beyond belief.

I’d rather have twice the interest rate and half the house prices !

Shamefully admit that i am now approved for the magical 1.99% First direct mortgage. I guess they must also be relaxing lending standards too. To be expected I suppose, wonder how long before we’re back to 125% LTV at these silly rates.
It won’t come to any good, I can tell you that.

BOE, knowing this was coming, bought out MMR to front-run and attempt to control a trend they have no control over. Why? Because MMR reduces inflation, amplifying the downwards trend in interest rates, so they cannot control house prices with monetary interventions at this stage. Only only by allowing increase of housing supply and providing rail and road infrastructure to centres of employment can they put a dent in the trend. Eliminating VAT on household extensions could also help do the job.
