Another budget soundbite?
In his recent budget, George Osborne announced “the Government will explore with interested parties whether the conversion of unused space in commercial properties in high streets and town centres to residential use could be allowed within pension schemesâ€. This sounds like a great idea for two major reasons: 1. It will improve our high streets, which in many formerly beautiful areas of the country have been reduced to ‘no go’ areas. 2. It’ll encourage more people to save in pensions, which will reduce the burden on the State, given the State Pension is being diminished in real value as the years pass by.
