Tougher tests for social housing

"Immigrant families will be kept off council house waiting lists for up to five years under a crackdown being unveiled by David Cameron". (...in his latest attempt to win over Labour voters). The PM is to set out a tougher approach on housing and benefits, promising to tackle the culture of "something for nothing", in a keynote speech on immigration on Monday".   • I wouldn’t mind, if this were not simply re-distribution of wealth from the British to the Romanian and Bulgarian immigrants and all those others on the breadline who came in from Eastern Europe. The first rule of charity is to look after your own first.

  • This is just a distraction which will appeal to those who want someone of blame – other than politicians and bankers – for our current problems. In the big scheme of things this isn’t much of a story
