I thought the Mayan Apocalypse stuff was last week?

Lloyds bank cards fail ahead of New Year celebrations

Just got held up at the check-out. The couple in front of me went into panic mode! If it's not the Mayans maybe it's preparation for the Fiscal Cliff. HNY everybody :-)

  • Didn’t they have a credit card? Debt is wealth in Britain, isn’t it?

  • I’ve noticed this happening a little bit too often with LloydsTSB machines. More than coincidence, but not enough for them to feel they need to apologise for faulty systems.

    My conclusion is that they have much more serious issues than faulty systems. Such as looming bankruptcy.

  • Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
    and never brought to mind ?
    Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
    and auld lang syne* ?
    CHORUS:
    For auld lang syne, my jo,
    for auld lang syne,
    we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
    for auld lang syne.
    And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
    and surely I’ll be mine !
    And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
    for auld lang syne.
    CHORUS
    We twa hae run about the braes,
    and pu’d the gowans fine ;
    But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
    sin auld lang syne.
    CHORUS
    We twa hae paidl’d i’ the burn,
    frae morning sun till dine ;
    But seas between us braid hae roar’d
    sin auld lang syne.
    CHORUS
    And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
    and gie’s a hand o’ thine !
    And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
    for auld lang syne.
    CHORUS

    So should we expect a public apology and appropriate compensation sometime soon then? Or perhaps more likely what your son was told was to do his job and mind his own businesses.

  • Paul, I don’t think either will be forthcoming and as you say front-line staff are told to get on with the job and pacify customers as best they can.

    Happy New Year everyone
