Richard Branson hikes cost of credit for Virgin Money card customers

If you thought the rise in SVR was steep..."Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Money, which recently bought Northern Rock, has increased interest rates on its credit cards by almost 50pc in the latest blow to consumers already hit by rising mortgage rates".

  • quite how increasing rates to 25% reduces risk is beyond me

    seems like financial terrorism to me approved by the fsa no doubt

  • what is going to happen imo is that people will stop using credit..thats what happened after japan bubble burst..the same could happen here.

    people began saving up for things but when they saved enough they realised they survived without and so held of buying…this reduced cost of goods and people held off even more resulting in deflation

    even 20 years on people save and I think the government even gave everyone a few thousand and they still didn’t spend it

    they don’t trust banks or the stockmarket and the kids left the country
