I quite like Business Insider despite myself, however their least attractive quality is their. Space filling daily lists. There’s always some top ten – twenty – or fifty facts you need to know about Albanian chair leg varieties or somesuch. Usually stuff you could discover yourself if you spent 5 minutes on google, amd could be arsed. Lists are a sure sign they don’t have enough original stuff to fill the available space.

That’s completely irrelevant. if global output trebled over that period, then America’s defence spending would have fallen relative to American output.

@2 MW Did global output treble? What I am seeing is, America’s defense spending doubled whilst it’s economy has shrunk. Am I missing something?
mark wadsworth says:
Novice Pete, they are not comparing like with like.
For example:
Year 0 – global output 100, US output 23, US defence spending 3 (12.5% of US GDP)
Year 10 – global output 300, US output 69, US defence spending 7 (10% of US GDP).
I’m not claiming that global output trebled, I’m just illustrating the point.
novice pete says:
Mark Wadsworth, ok, point taken.

U.S. defence spending is insanely high, and Britain could do with spending less on such things too. But what’s the relevance to HPC?
novice pete says:
@6 Drewster, the relevance to HPC? well not much I suppose, I just think maybe a few off topic subjects at the weekends would make
a bit of a change.
