2007 prediction of middle class becoming a revolutionary class

Revolution, flashmobs, and brain chips. A grim vision of the future

Marxism "The middle classes could become a revolutionary class, taking the role envisaged for the proletariat by Marx," says the report. The thesis is based on a growing gap between the middle classes and the super-rich on one hand and an urban under-class threatening social order: "The world's middle classes might unite, using access to knowledge, resources and skills to shape transnational processes in their own class interest". Marxism could also be revived, it says, because of global inequality. An increased trend towards moral relativism and pragmatic values will encourage people to seek the "sanctuary provided by more rigid belief systems, including religious orthodoxy and doctrinaire political ideologies, such as popularism and Marxism".

  • Marxism still subscribes to the ‘dictatorship of the proletariat’ Marx was wrong. He was only correct about the fact that Capitalism will devour itself, via Theft, Greed etc aka Corporatism.

Amusingly, the report mentions terrorist groups, without acknowledging, subsequent governments are to blame………………………………..Who are the real terrorists here?

The evidence suggests its the Government

  • sibley's b'stard child says:

That’s all good and well, but my primary concern is will this impact on house prices I wonder.

On the plus side, at least global armageddon unleashed by thousands of unmanned weapon platforms a la Skynet will give CML an alternative scapegoat to blame low transactions on. The Royal Family and inclement weather excuses have really run their course.

  • At the end of the day, Marx and his mate Engels were just good old fashioned champagne socialists.

  • tick tock,
Marx was born into a wealthy middle-class family and was privately educated. That makes him a champagne socialist.

  • and abondonned his family wealth to spend most of the rest of his life in abject poverty in accordance with his ideals, so not a champagne socialist by any stretch of the imagination.

Being born into a middle class family, and being privately educated doesn’t make someone a ‘champagne socialist’, living a ‘champagne lifestyle’ whilst claiming to champion an eagalitarian, frugle, society makes somebody a ‘champagne socialist’.

Think what you like of Marx, but to label him that is just plain wrong.
