Wonder if this will effect the UK?

Shutdown: What you need to know

If Congress fails to approve a spending bill by Friday, the federal government will shut down. And boy, things aren't looking good.

  • Wow, all the elements of a Hollywood blockbuster. Only 48 hours to save the country, etc, etc. Where is Bruce Willis or Batman when you need a super-hero? If the US population are smart enough to get a man in space, then how come they didn’t get more organised this time?

Well, some people did…watch out for another last minute 1200 page document that all the representatives will be asked to vote on – before they have a chance to read it. In any other country, this situation would be seen for what it is…manipulation.

If they don’t raise the debt ceiling the US economy implodes, the dollar collapses and the whole fiat house of cards that is the global economy and its US-dollar-backed fiat currencies collapse – VIVA GOLD AND SILVER!

If they do raise the debt ceiling (which they will have to continue to do ad infinitum), inflation will continue apace until the dollar collapses and the whole fiat house of cards that is the global economy and its US-dollar-backed fiat currencies collapse – VIVA GOLD AND SILVER!

    Today’s gold price $1455
    Today’s silver price $39.30

    I can smell victory 🙂

  • gc – In the land of the blind the one eyed man may be king, but I would be careful as to what you hope for!

An increase in value for precious metals would help many of us, a collapse of the fiat money system would require guns rather than gold, maybe you see yourself running your local malitia, hence the name?

Very funny, but would that mean firing ‘lead’ bullets. If food gets short I would start running wilderbeast.

  • Some people here are getting far too excited..

..the Americans have had plenty of shutdowns in the past (although none since the Clinton era)..

..they’re a bit of an anti-climax, but they do tend to highlight those on the public payroll whose absence from work isn’t missed..

    – which makes finding agreement on what can be cut from the federal budget just that little bit easier..
