  • Arthur Kinnell says:

    You missed one, Peter.

    16. The ‘Some day all this will change’ fallacy.

It will only change when humankind is extinct, which is a certainty.

It has everything to do with house prices, its the political system that brought us this situation and it is more relevant than most of your posts UT. Your belief system needs to be able to encapsulate it.

  • We have what is effectively a covert Fascist system, the people get used to ‘free’ gifts, to win votes, for fake choices, thus huge national debts and no genuine change, while the corporations make the big decisions amongst themselves, and big media guides the proles to the ‘right’ choices; all so very cosy, and so very very wrong!

If you vote and expect more than superficial change, then you are a mug. These are the choices that the power elite provide to you, not what you would freely chose, if allowed to do so. The recent public cuts are mere Theatre, they are nowhere near large enough to tackle the governments massive debt and tax deficit burden; for that to happen, most of the ‘free’ gifts would have to end!

  • I do think the author is overly biased against genuinely free markets and business, and possibly misunderstands them due to creeping Communist and Marxist ideology. I suggest that the government supported, limited liability corporate business model is the cause of a lot of abuse of the market, much like Adam Smith’s comments on trade guilds (like a corporation) deliberately restricting competition, with the support of the authorities.

  • “‘Socialism’ itself has never been tried anywhere.”

Of course it hasn’t. Any seriously left-leaning political preachers have to find a way to dissociate from Stalin, Mao, Castro and lesser butchers. I daresay Little Professor would be sent to Educaton and Enlightenment Camp if this author had his way.
