  • This rather serious case seems to have some mounting issues.

I hope they finally resolve their differences and get back to normality.

  • Did we need to be told that they were lesbians? Did this point have any baring on the matter?

  • It brings nothing to the story. It’s just a fact. Like describing them as Elderly, disabled, White, Coloured , Black, Conservatiive, Police Officers. Civil Servants, Trade Unionist etc, etc.

It is a sign that we are a free society when someone can be described as what they are. It should make no difference to your perception of the story.

that was my first thot. Do they mention the sexuity of the property developer?

If you can be sued for 300k when your neighbours annoy you with a housing development, would make you think twice about the expense of doing it!!!

Only in as much as they are trying to come across as less protected without a man around the house (the rest is pure PC), but I think that they are doing a pretty good job without one.

  • @will,

That was my first thought too, but then the fact that the neighbour was also dropping threatening notes makes it salient:
What Judge Wilcox described as a “campaign of harassment” against Miss Jones culminated in an incident in which homophobic notes floated down into the couple’s courtyard from an upper window which were “particularly insulting”, said the couple’s barrister, Philip Noble.

Under the law, homophobic notes are as bad as racially-biased ones. It would be equally unacceptable to write e.g. “black [email protected]”.

Or “white [email protected]” don’t forget.

It may now even be equivalent to “hetrosexual perverts”. Where does one draw the line in the sand, Rent boy?

I have had notes through the door with “Homeowner” written on them. lol

As it happens, I once had a flat renovated, below which lived two (presumably) lesbians. Before work started, I went down and explained how much needed doing, when the work would be done and how long it would take. The one I spoke to was very decent about it all and we got on fine after that.
