  • Good God. It’s a fairly average (needing redecorating and refitting) family house, slightly larger than your normal 3 bed semi that would suite anyone with more than a couple of kids. Or maybe someone who needs a spare spare room in which to practice their macrame.

    But £700k is hilarious.

I wonder what the current owners paid for it.

Well, the last semi to sell on that road went for £460k in April 2010. So, yeah, good luck with that one.

  • Houses shifting for ~£250k in the area in ’98 but nothing for this one, so I’m guessing the current owners paid well less than £250k for it – decoration looks ancient, I reckon they’ll have paid maybe £100k or thereabouts, so a bit cheeky wanting £700k for it.

  • I live a mile from here (with my Dad’s) , this is way overpriced don’t get me wrong, but for a bit more perspective….

just across the road is the Monkhams estate where this price would be correct. Houses there range from 550k to 1.25M. Also this house is next to a junior and secondary private school and an all girl grammar school, 3 of the best schools in Essex.

On the flip side, station isn’t very close and this road has a lot of traffic.

I reckon 460k for the one that sold was much closer to correct. 700k to begin with, they must have been popping something!!!

On the same street there is a 5 bed detached belonging to a convicted fraudster for £660,000 (originally on for £750k, now a repo) and a 4 bed detached for £679,995 (no chance).

  • I follow propertysnake, but have found the site updates can be up to 2 weeks a part sometimes. It would be nice to know how many properties are being sampled at any given time. I strongly suspect it is less than 25% of available properties nationally.
