Minister seeks lighter touch on mortgage rules
The government wants financial regulators to relax plans to police the mortgage market so that more people can obtain loans to buy homes. Housing Minister Grant Shapps will meet Hector Sants, head of the Financial Services Authority (FSA), next week to discuss the watchdog's proposals to impose tighter rules on mortgage approval.
