Top Conservative: recession? You've never had it so good

The vast majority of Britons have "never had it so good" because of the low interest rates during the recession, Lord Young, a senior adviser to David Cameron, has declared. Lord Young, the Prime Minister's enterprise adviser, said a drop in mortgage rates "since this so-called recession" had left most people better off.

    Yes, the losers who overpaid for their houses with mortgages they can’t afford – now being comprehensively bailed out by the winners who were prudent, who avoided debt, and who saved. Meanwhile the elderly, reliant on interest on their savings to survive, have been shafted.

    It’s a sick world.
