None at all Cyril; but it does give you a warm glow doesn’t it?

Consider it my civic duty for the day.

    Much love.

I think the BBC, as poor as it is, is still way better than SKY or foreign TV and is worth the licence fee when compared to the opposition.

As a parent I find commercial TV appalling. Cbeebies and CBBC provide thought provoking and educational content that is streets ahead of the advert driven drivel on ‘commercial’ TV.

I am not defending the high pay, just giving depth to the debate of the Alf Garnet regulars. Without the quality standard of the BBC we would soon descend to the depths of Fox News

  • @mark – check the terms of your TV licence

@cat and canary …anyone noticed any drop in quality of BBC programmes? – yep it’s fallen off a cliff since that lovely Jonathan “Wossy” Ross departed, suggest we start a campaign to bring him back on £10m per year (LOL)

  • Hear hear number cruncher

There is a lot of trashy stuff on BBC TV now, but they still broadcast the odd gem – and there is Radio 3 & 4, and the World Service unless the Philistines give that the chop. Without the BBC it would be like standing atop Babel and staring in the void. If it would only reverse its dumbing down. Bring back David Attenborough as Controller. I wouldn’t mind he being paid £200k or whatever it is.

  • Worth the licence fee for Spooks alone.

It is true that alot of advert tv is rubbish.

Without the been this country would turn into a real life Simpsons Oh, which is on in half an hour).

I think 2-400k pa is more than enough for Jonathan Ross & the like. There’s plenty in the wings who could do the job just aswell for that money.

Take it or leave it I say.

  • Why must every news program and every radio music station be presented by 2 or more people. Are they all incapable of doing it on their own?

  • Ahhh, Alf Garnett, one of the finest character roles in British TV history, you do well to remind us of him number cruncher.

Worth every penny of the current licence fee of £145.50.

    I’m sure we all agree.

  • Whatever pre-emptive measures they have taken , it will still be one hell of a gravy train and an outsider looking in would be disgusted and horrified .

Sure it lost it’s impartiality with recruiting only in the Guardian and becoming Browns Broadcasting Corporation a.k.a. pravda .

They are part of the EU collusion ; try to find any reference to the forthcoming EU – India Free Trade agreement Mode-4 arrangements which will allow Indians to work in the UK without proper Visa’s .

They woefully derelict their duty as guardians of democracy to warn their viewers of threats to British Sovereignty , disappearance of habeous corpus and the european arrest warrent .

With all it’s failings , and they are extremely serious , it should not be forgotten that the BBC is still one of Britains winners on the International stage .
We ought to be thinking how we can pump more money into the BBC in such a way that it gives our creative industries more of a leg up .
