Lloyds bank cuts 4,500 jobs

Britain's Lloyds Banking Group (LSE: LLOY.L - news) said Wednesday that it will axe another 4,500 jobs, including 1,750 posts outside the UK, as the crisis-hit lender continues its painful restructuring.

  • So much bad news and yet the FTSE is still surging (1.5% today)… Oh, I forgot QE2 (and I don’t mean the ship) is on it’s way…

  • Doesn’t suprise me. I’ve always thought Banking was one of the few industries that could theoretically function without any staff (and run by computer) because they produce nothing and do nothing complex (apart from dodging government legislation).
