I would never have guessed this strategy in a million years

Real IRA says it will target UK bankers

Can't quite figure this one out but the article contains the following quote; "Let's not forget that the bankers are the next-door neighbours of the politicians. Most people can see the picture: the bankers grease the politicians' palms, the politicians bail out the bankers with public funds, the bankers pay themselves fat bonuses and loan the money back to the public with interest. It's essentially a crime spree that benefits a social elite at the expense of many millions of victims."

As much as I cannot and do not condone bombings or any kind of terrorism, it’s hard to argue with the sentiment in the quote!

  • Spot on analysis, but they still missed lots more criminal activities.

Very appropriate quote. That, pretty much, sums up the relationship between the banking industry and politicians. It’s a relationship that seemingly has sprung up during the last 10-15 years. And it is dangerous,as it has become ever more transparent. Most people see it as it is now.And they’re very uneasy/upset at what is happening. It is a complete elite class that are essentially thieving from the population.
It’s a big if,but if the social unrest ball gets rolling then i do believe that it will take some stopping. However,i see no winners from this at all.
These people at the elite table are not going let go of their ill-gotten gains, and will either take flight or ruin the whole country for everyone…….and then take flight to new shores. These people WILL NOT share with anyone.
I’m sure there will be people here who disagree with my comment here.By that,i am probably referring to the kind of capitalist who evolved from watching WallSt (the film) too many times, and believing GordonG was a god.Capitalism in its current form has failed.Socialism from an era not so far ago was also proven to be a failure. Some of you may laugh out loud at my next comment, but i think the only time when we had the balance nearly right was under JohnMajors government.Remember that early/mid 90s era?For me it was good both socially and economically. And what ended up getting the major government ousted………sleaze.Cash for questions etc.It was JohnMajor who first raised the “back to basics”.Not to worry though, the country is in good hands with Tony “whiter than white” Blair and his down to earth buddy Peter Mandleson (that”s peter “i’m incredidbly relaxed with huge individual wealth” mandleson). As somebody mentioned yesterday,it is a shame that JohnSmith died. That was probably the labour partys, and the countrys, better hope for a more equal society. After that,Blair and his pals basically raped what used to be a labour party. They did more damage than any conservative could possibly ever have envisaged.
The rest,as they say,is now history.Unfortunately, they have made all of our futures a little more rocky. They have stolen even our childrens future earnings and pocket money.
This is a problem with a certain type of politician that has landed upon us over the last 15-20 years.Greedy,self-serving.More likely never really had a proper career outside of politics. There is a saying that you get the politicians you deserve,no?The whole country needs to think about that and start getting wise,to make an effort. Not just turn up at a ballot box and put an X where they always have done, because “that’s what we’ve always done in this family”.Blair and his like prayed on this kind of attitude. The attitude where people would vote for a donkey as long as it had a red or blue ribbon around its neck.It annoys the hell out of me on election nights on TV news etc, when you know certain areas will always turn blue,or always turn red.And yes,it is a north/south divide. And yes, both areas have been proven to make bloody awful choices! On that front,we are united! Oh sod it,i’ve had enough and am leaving these shores…….move along please, nothing to see here!

  • Like TNC, I abhor violence, but their chain of logic is impeccable.

BIATWC “the only time when we had the balance nearly right was under JohnMajors government.” I came to this conclusion about five years ago. And he extended pub opening hours and Sunday shopping times, houses were affordable, the economy was growing, we weren’t completely run by the EU, cones hotline, Virginia Bottomley, what was not to like? Happy days. Didn’t last long.

I recall reading somewhere (on an article about car bombs) that the UK Government only started to negotiate with the Provisional IRA when they started to target the City of London – the Bishopsgate bombing and Canary Wharf. Within weeks / months, the Government was at the negotiating table.
The Real IRA may have the same tactic – the GB Government can ignore bombs in villages in NI, but gets really spooked (and leant on by powerful people) if the City folks start to be threatened. Watch how badly the UK can be affected if terrorism hits London – tourist numbers go down the pan, and if the City is seen as dangerous, we’re in deep economic doo-doo.
