  • A very good set of questions with very vague uncommital wishy-washy answers about building more (what like three more?) houses.

The politicians didn’t tackle whether they’re going to stop shovelling public money at banks and builders so that they have to let the market do its work.

In fact a few said that those industries need to be protected more!!!?!

If no-one wants the market to decide, someone’s got to force those protecting the housing market to let the re-balance begin. Do your work, IMF – let interest rates rise to represent the REAL risk the lending market is right now.

Vote tactically for a hung parliament. It’s the only way we’ll get any sensible and credible solution to the housing problem.

  • Excellent post, thanks Jack C.

The politicians response was dreadful. They all blamed the frozen mortgage market and claimed that their party would improve mortgage availability. They also waffled about more rental & part-buy options. None of them seemed to “get” it. Frankly I really despair if these are the best available from our leaders and potential leaders-to-be.
