Gordon’s Broken Promises Revisited

Gordon Brown and broken house price promises

Gordon Brown said: ‘I will not allow house prices to get out of control and put at risk the sustainability of the recovery.’ Until a political leader or Chancellor comes out and actually states that high house prices are bad, we’ll be at the mercy of those who say one thing and then do the opposite when a property boom delivers a short-term boost to the economy at the expense of long-term stability.

  • To my mind, the thing that damns Gordon Brown, and the rest of the Nu labour brigade; is their utterly shameless mendacity.

All politicians avoid awkward questions, and seek to put a positive slant on their failings; but the outright lies that have characterised the last thirteen years have been without precedent..

Although he and his team are ‘far from perfect’, I hope Cameron gets an overall majority in this election; and I hope that he then has the guts to call off this whitewash of an Iraq enquiry, and constitute a proper inquisition – one with an agenda to establish exactly who told the lies that got us into that war, and then send them off to face war crimes charges in The Hague..

Down through the ages, history has been written by the victors – you’ll need to take the Romans word for that, the Carthaginians didn’t leave much to read funny enough. We’re in ‘that war’ to defend our way of life, our wealth, our position in the world…and to assure that our version of ‘truth’ and ‘democracy’ overcomes the notion of ‘war lords’ and ‘elders’.
Look at a map of Arabia, wonder about the straight lines, and thank the lord that ‘market values’ have been usurped by westerners since we worked out that that black sticky stuff is good for OUR way of life.
Cheap political propaganda, from someone who doesn’t stike me as ‘an internationalist’ otherwise.
