sorry smugdog are the experts from RICS more to your liking?

House prices will rise next year, says RICS
"The forecast by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors suggested the value of a typical British home would end the 2010 “one or two per cent higher” than their current level."

Eventually they will run out of gas talking up the housing market. Now picture this the whole world is turning against house price inflation as a way to get rich because we are losing competitiveness to China this way and what are we exactly doing and on what are we spending our money in this picture?

sumgdog,

What do you expect to happen to house prices in 2010?
(This isn't an attempt at sarcasm; I'm just curious about what you think.)

Capital Economics/Global Insight were hardly spot on for 2009. And they are the most pessimistic for 2010. I think flat or a small fall (max 5%) is most likely.

@6 good luck with your question QG, but I don't think smugdog does substance. Although I do seem to remember some time ago he did put some sort of prediction down... I stand to be corrected, and I too am interested in SDs prediction and justification.
