Jobless camps in the U.K.

Northampton Chronicle and Echo: Homeless set up camp near busy roundabout

" A GROUP of jobless and homeless men from eastern Europe have set up a camp for the winter in a patch of woods just yards from one of the busiest roundabouts in Northamptonshire."
Shocking. Says it all really.
Please go home, you're making the place look untidy.

A spokesman for Northampton Borough Council said: "We understand that they have recently lost their jobs and consequently their homes. While we are under no legal obligation to help them, we are doing all we can to get them back into employment and find them accommodation in the private rented sector."

Wonder if he's offering the same service to everyone sleeping in cardboard city?

The fact comments have been disabled on the original article says it all...

Says it all really, you cant vent your anger that these people could get away living in woods. If it were me or you, we would have to have planning permission, pay council tax on the shack and anything else.
If they are not fit for purpose, ie of no benefit to the UK, send them home!

A few years ago I read about a group of eastern Europeans who were camping on the edge of a city in the UK. The local council were mortified and came to offer assistance, but the hard-working migrants told them to sod off because living in a tent was cheaper.

Hopefully the council will find the money to send them home. Ryanair flights to Bratislava are about £50 one-way, Eurolines coaches cost the same. Probably money well spent.
