HIPs are now being favoured

Home Information Packs receive approval from industry professionals

The media has been reporting about HIPs pretty negatively. Is the tide turning towards the view of the Home Information Pack?

  • I agree that HIP consultants, including myself are more likely to say they are wonderful…….In truth most, like me, say they are the proverbial curates egg. ……..but equally estate agents (who incidentally need to hold NO qualifications whatsoever) are going to talk the market up and blame everyone but themselves for the state we are in.

Who inflated house prices in the first place?…Yes sellers did but encouraged, aided and abetted by?…guess who….and why?…surely you dont need to guess that one!

The media of course get a massive amount of advertising from estate agents. They have to pop at the government……….so if we are talking vested interests here, lets talk all vested interests.

The one point I think many people have missed and the reason agents hate HIPs so much is because the system has weeded those people putting properties on the market to only those who are serious about selling. In the past of course an unqualified agent would come round, give an unqualified opinion and the seller would then put the house on the market, just to see if it reached the inflated unqualified opinion. Now of course because of the cost only committed buyers put their houses up for sale. Surely that means that they are less likely to pull away from a deal.

Can anyone in this country honestly say that their high street has not been (until recently) stuffed with unqualified estate agents. Do you see suppliers or DEA’s making a killing? In my experience I am better off as I am only 6k down from when I paid for the level 4 training for my qualification.

And by the way, just how much to unqualified estate agents charge for their ‘service’?
