No such issue in the public sector as the gravy train ploughs on …towards the buffers of taxpayer revolt!
robh says:
There are public sector workers who work very hard for a pittance, just the same as there are bankers who are a benefit to society
When the taxpayers revolt they can clean the sheets of their double incontinent granny themselves, catch rats, and empty their own bins
Not to mention try to teach and maintain law and order
inbreda says:
If the public sector has expanded as much as has been suggested over the last decade, then you have to think that the nurses, bin men and rat catchers were either really really busy a decade ago, or the additional roles have gone to less hands on staff that one might describe as “dispensable”. Depends which one of those two groups you are referring to.
montesquieu says:
I don’t think it’s the rat catchers and bum wipers people get fussed about, it’s the masses of people in non-jobs such as equality co-ordinators and the like, plus the local authority chief execs on £250k a year, with people like heads of planning or transport on £150k, that get me narked
crunchy says:
The gravy train will grind to a hault and gravy will be spilt.
More Brown waste.

Montesquieu – well said. Robh, you’re right there are hundreds of thousands of deserving people working for the state. Unfortunately there are also hundreds of thousands of people hiding away who will never get sacked no matter how shite or lazy they are.

Sorry Tyrell, normally agree with most of what you say but two members of my family work in the public sector and neither earn much. I’m sure there are many public servants or private consultants to the govt who are earning a shed load and doing little for it. I’ll post an article above indicating how much the govt are spending are consultants. Granted the claim is by the Tories, but one thing I’ve learnt about this govt is that there is not smoke without fire.
