Tony Blair says:
So it’s all the fault of Max Hastings then
It seems Scottish vandals have heeded Max Hastings’s suggestion in the Daily Mail on Saturday that disgruntled taxpayers should throw rocks through the windows of the country’s disgraced bankers. Early on Wednesday morning vandals attacked the £3m Edinburgh home of former Royal Bank of Scotland chief executive Sir Fred Goodwin (pictured), smashing the windows of the villa as well as those of a Mercedes S600 parked in the driveway.
Hastings had written that the British public should punish bankers such as Goodwin. “Get the boot in and keep kicking,” he said. “This is why we must stand outside their homes throwing rocks through the window

Some force behind the scene but largely responsible for the engineering of this global crisis seems deliberately targeting Freddy as scape goat to supply false catharsis to the mass. We can/should not overlook the far bigger evil than this poor punk. These days, toddlers on the corner are pointing fingers, saying ‘Fred the Shred’. Apparenly an organized/manipulated campaign is going on.
another alan says:
You do tease us, Japanese Uncle!
flashman says:
janapnese uncle: supply false catharsis to the mass?
No, I’ll think you’ll find it was some blokes throwing rocks

Where there is a world crime there is always a patsy or two.
Frederick will join a very long historical list.

yeah – but at least he’s got both eyes. I hate it when they scapegoat poor defenceless retards.

I think people are beginning to be a bit naff-ed off, with the win win situation for certain privileged people! Rightly so!
As Bob Dylan say’s ” Times, they are changing”
Come gather round people wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth saving
Then you’d better start swimming or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a changing
Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pens
And keep your eyes open, the chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon, the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no telling who that it’s naming
Oh the loser will be later to win
For the times, they are a changing
Come senators, congressmen, please head the call
Don’t stand in the doorway, don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be her that has stalled
The battle outside ragging will soon shake your windows
And rattle your hall
For the times, they are a changing
Come mothers and fathers all over this land
And don’t criticize what you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughter are beyond your command
Your old role is rapidly aging
Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend a hand
For the times they are a changing
The line, it is drawn, the curse, it is cast
The slow one will later be fast
And the present now will soon be the past
The order is rapidly fading
The first one now will later be last
For the times, they are a changing

‘Some blokes throwing rocks’ would not issue claim of responsibility, I guess. At least someone had to draft and release the announcement. Just punks on the street cannot organize that so readily the ‘Bank Bosses Are Criminal’ campaign.
flashman says:
japanese uncle: I was responding to your comment; “Some force behind the scene but largely responsible for the engineering of this global crisis seems deliberately targeting Freddy as scape goat to supply false catharsis to the mass”.
Things don’t always have to be so dark and complicated. A few people got together and decided that it would be a laugh to chuck a few rocks through his window. You don’t have to be Einstein to write a note saying “it woz us”
flashman says:
little professor: I once threw a brick through the window of the Lloyds training facility, built under the walls of Edinburgh castle. (If you’re out there Archy, it was me). I was completely pissed and did it for sport. Have you never done anything like that? The high you get running from the scene is fantastic. Makes you feel alive. The point is that you don’t need to be a cog in a dark world conspiracy or a sink estate punk, to do something like this
flashman says:
sorry lp I meant japanese uncle

Fred is a convenient scapegoat. Fred didn’t make this mess. But, notice how Gordo ( and other politicians) reviled him! However the rebuke by Daniel Hannan MEP of Gordo was lost by the media. What happened there? I suspect a frame up!
Watchers of Sky news at 5.00pm saw Gordo hint of more trillions to be spent in reflation. I reckon the G20 riots in London will make Government take a bit of notice – no surprise our NuLab politicians are trying to deflect anger onto others.
Verdict: House prices to temporarily stabilise as the pound slumps again and food prices continue to rise along with gold. More private sector job losses, more gains in non productive public sector jobs (someone has to vote NuLab next time around).

Mrs Iguana and myself have looked at the mindless trivia hogging the headlines for the last few weeks and have concluded as has JU, that really bad news is being buried.
Can’t see what it might be yet.
Flash; 17 stone? I thought that anarchist activists were fit and lean.
flashman says:
iguana: not exactly lean these days but I’m 6’4″ so not exactly a fat bas*ard either. Wouldn’t call myself an anarchist activist. I’m more in the Bertie Worcester mould. Always ready to pinch a policeman’s helmet if sport calls for it
happy mondays says:
@ Flash, you sound like you might be one of those chaps that like streak at cricket matches!
happy mondays says:
to (oopps)
flashman says:
iguana: On a more serious note, it must be emotionally draining thinking that “really bad news is being buried”. I’m probably a bit more ‘establishment’ than most on this site and have many friends in the judiciary, the city and even a few in the media. None of these people have ever thought or even suspected that there are dark forces pulling the strings. Most things really are what they seem
flashman says:
happy mondays: not guilty m’lud. I do think life is fucki*ng marvellous though

Flash, It certainly is! Keep your pecker up is my motto… And my philosophy : F**K Em..

Very clever ruse to target such an obvious patsy, while deflecting attention away from the real crooks that allowed this crash to occur. The real targets should be the worldwide financial regulatory authorities that have spent a generation unravelling all the constraints designed to prevent bubbles expanding out of control. From the time of Thatcher and Reagan all the controls have been quietly removed. What a result!
