End bank bonuses now

Obama Calls Wall Street Bonuses ‘Shameful’

President Obama branded Wall Street bankers “shameful” on Thursday for giving themselves nearly $20 billion in bonuses as the economy was deteriorating and the government was spending billions to bail out some of the nation’s most prominent financial institutions.

“We learned this week that even as they petitioned for taxpayer assistance, Wall Street firms shamefully paid out nearly $20 billion in bonuses for 2008,” Mr Obama said. “The American people will not excuse or tolerate such arrogance and greed.”

    Neither will the British people.

  • Remember the sack o’ spuds that we have in charge of Britain fawning over the city boys for years and years in his annual speech as chancellor?

Here are a few snippets from his last speach to them on 20 June 2007.

“So I congratulate you Lord Mayor and the City of London on these remarkable achievements, an era that history will record as the beginning of a new golden age for the City of London.”

“So why am I more optimistic than ever about the future of our islands, just one per cent of the world’s population, in this new era of globalisation? ”

“While never the biggest in size, nor the mightiest in military hardware, I believe we are – as the city’s success shows – capable of being one of the greatest success stories in the new global economy.”

Read the full speach here – http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/press_68_07.htm – Read it and weep ladies and gentlemen – The man that siad, only this week, that he forsaw all this coming and wanted to changes things ten years ago, gave a speach in June 2007 that says nothing of the impending meltdown and chaos that engulfs us.

He is a charlatan. He is an emporer with no clothes – Unlike Obama – he says nothing about the billions given away in bonuses in the past 2 or 3 years, while the banks we all now own, were busy creating balance sheets that were unsustainable – He is an ignorant, lying and corrupt man, not corrupt because he has lined his own bed (although I’m sure he won’t leave office poor), but because he has absolutely NO IDEA what he is doing. He put a former supporter of the Inernational marxist group in charge of the treasury for gawds sake!

Gordon Brown – Tough on savers and the prudent, tough on the causes of saving and being prudent!

Should be interesting in the next few months, seeing his hair whiten and even the unions and workers that tradionally support the Labour party realise where this buffoon has led us.

It is quite beyond belief that bonuses are paid for rank incompetance in the financial sector. Is there any other industry where you can be paid a bonus for driving an organisation into bankruptcy- and not only that- but be held up as some kind of hero and escape all consequences. No wonder the world is going to sh*****t. We live in a society where the law abiding citizen is subjected to all manner of surveillance from chipped dustbins to speed cameras, in order to boost the revenue of both central and local government. Yet those that escape with billions, that a normal person would regard as the result of crimminal activity, are regarded as teflon coated and untouchable.
If this dichotomy is allowed to continue it will result in the collapse of society. You cannot have the bulk of society pilloried, chastised, and subjected to all manner of petty regulation and control, while the sharks walk away scot free.
I suspect what is happening at Immingham is merely the foretaste of the worm beginning to turn.
    Crash gordo take heed!

The workers see this as a failure of the right, not of the incompetence of the left. So I don’t rule out New Labour attempting the next election with a blatant left wing fairy tale, and I also don’t rule out their traditional supporters putting them back in office.

remember though “meet the new boss…..same as the old boss….”

Reckon they might be singing the “Red Flag” at the labour party conference this year.

  • Let’s see what Obama actually does about it. Don’t forget that Brown and even Bush expressed similar sentiments.
