Brown claims that his plans are bigger than Barack Obama’s.

M defends handling of downturn

Mr Brown also claimed his plans would be bigger than the multi-billion dollar "Green New Deal" planned by US president-elect Barack Obama and "we are not going to do what happened in previous recessions and allow people to go under". Article literally contains something for everyone to get their teeth into.

  • If you’re confused about the following line:

… but he did say that falling interest rates helped to push inflation

then you should be. What Brown actually said was that ” … falling interest rates help to push inflation down

After 10 years as Chancellor, with savers outnumbering borrowers by 7 to 1, that is how good a grasp this man has of GCSE economics.

  • This is democracies biggest failing, politician do not in general have any experience of the real world, they go straight to university get a degree in law then go straight in to politics, you then end up with a bunch of people running the economy who would not even have the experience to run a mobile fish & chip van.

  • It was his use of the words – europe is beiung protected by the euro – oops he suddenly realised what he’d said and tried to cover, but it is out there now. He is one of the ‘people who matter’, spoken off by Barrosa – Sterling becoming the euro and a 2009 election are both ‘definitely’ not being considered – so expect both to be attempted this year. Q: How can you tell a politician is lying? – A: his/ her lips are moving.

  • @4.

In the old days of government and I mean way back in the old days government was made of successful businessmen – now as mrmickey quite rightly points out they’re made up of ex students with no business background. How do you attract successful business people back to government to rid us of these lunatics !! We need the Stuart Rose’s and the Sir John Harvey Jones calibre type running the country who have a proven track record in turning round/growing good businesses not this shower of sh*t in Govt !!

Why should the government have anything to do with the economy? The very last thing we need is for the UK to be run like a business.
